DESCRIPTION: This centre
of research and study of rock art and member of the International
Federation of Rock Art Organizations, undertakes annual archaeology fieldwork
in Paspardo, Valcamonica. The project involves research on the site, with
excursions to find as yet undiscovered engraved rocks; analysis of damage
to the rock surfaces and conservation problems; drawing the engravings
with plastic sheets; and catalogue the engravings. Studies will be put
on the Internet.
PERIOD: Neolithic.
COUNTRY: Italy.
LOCATION: Paspardo and Valcamonica,
(Brescia province) Northern Italy. The site is Paspardo and other areas
in Valcamonica.
TRAVEL: Meeting point at the
bus stop of Ceto-Cerveno in Valcamonica. Meeting time to be confirmed prior
to arrival. Bus from the Garibaldi metro station in Milan or train from
the National Railway station in Brescia to the station of Ceto-Cerveno.
DURATION: Minimum 7 days; July
to August.
AGE: Minimum 16.
QUALIFICATIONS: Archaeologists,
scholars, students, and enthusiasts welcome.
WORK: Excursion, analysis, drawing,
cataloguing.
LANGUAGE: English and Italian;
French and Spanish also spoken.
ACCOMMODATION: Houses in Paspardo
with dormitories, showers, and kitchen.
COST: EUR45 (US$48)/day (EUR315
for 7-day minimum stay), paid upon arrival. Accommodation, food,
and transport to the work site included. Reading materials provided at
an additional cost.
